High North Security Dialogue

HNSD focuses on the evolving defense and security environment of the European High North, encompassing the northern land and maritime regions of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and their approaches. Participants examine the strategic terrain, infrastructure, mobility corridors, and regional operating conditions that shape defense readiness and multinational cooperation along NATO’s northern flank.

The three-day training exercise taught Marines and Sailors how to survive and operate in extreme cold weather conditions, increasing their warfighter capabilities. A key component of NATO’s enhanced vigilance activity Arctic Sentry, exercise Cold Response 26 is a Norwegian-led winter military exercise designed to enhance collective defense capabilities and ensure U.S. readiness to rapidly deploy and seamlessly operate alongside NATO Allies in challenging arctic conditions.
