Maranda S. Kan joined the Ted Stevens Center on January 4, 2023. Maranda is currently the Acting Director for Economic Competitiveness at the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Strategy, Policy and Plans. In this capacity, Ms. Kan formulates a vision for and implements Arctic efforts on behalf of the DHS enterprise. Prior to joining DHS, Ms. Kan galvanized support for and drove the modernization of customs policy at U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
Ms. Kan has a Master of Public Policy in national security from the University of Maryland School of Public Policy and a Bachelor of Science in Communication Theory from Arizona State University.
Ms. Kan currently resides in Washington, DC.
